There are quite a few bakeries in the Yakima Valley that make delicious bread, pastries, and cakes, but if you need a custom-designed cookie for your baby shower or business’s grand opening, where do you go? Yum Bakery provides just that — custom-made treats. Locally owned and locally made, with a team of two, Yum Bakery is here to provide something sweet for your next event.

Founder Christina McCarthy started the bakery in 2014 as a side gig, but with the help of friends and word of mouth, it grew into an entire second job that needed an employee for the extra hands.

When shie is not working on bakery orders, Christina is a substitute teacher. Having been an English teacher and coach at Wilson Middle School before temporarily leaving the workplace to be a full-time mom, she enjoys teaching students of all ages. Her passion for baking started at an early age and is something she shared a love for with her late mother, whom she shares a photo of on her website as a reminder of where it started.

Yum Bakery can make anything from cookies to cakes and pies. There are many photos of their delicious treats on their website and Instagram, especially the delightful sugar cookies. Christina is very excited to now own an edible image printer, something that helps create even better-customized cookies. She has also made cookies with business logos printed on them for events and would love to do more of that for local businesses. She has, in the past, partaken in pop-up shops and is considering it again for the future.

Yum Bakery prefers not to make baked goods that require dietary restrictions. Instead, they gladly refer customers over to a couple of other local businesses — Light Delight in Selah or Jenny Mae’s in Yakima. Light Delight offers multiple dietary restriction options. They are located at 117 E 3rd Ave. in Selah and can be contacted by phone at 509.698.2022. Jenny Mae’s offers gluten, dairy, and soy-free goods and is found at 730 N 16th Ave, Suite #2 in Yakima. Jenny Mae’s can be reached by phone at 509.833.5096.
