Located just south of Yakima, Washington, Wapato is home to several amazing wineries worth adding to any self-guided winery tour. Or just pick one and head out for a day of relaxing among the vineyards with a glass of locally created wine. Many also offer special events throughout the year, too.

Freehand Cellars: 420 Windy Point Drive, Wapato

If you are looking for a place to hold any kind of event – from birthday parties to weddings – in Yakima Valley wine country, then check out Freehand Cellars, established 2018 and opened in June 2019. The winery has plenty of lodging and space available to accommodate all kinds of events, from birthday parties to weddings. Check out their website for upcoming events.

Masset Winery: 620 East Parker Heights Road, Wapato

Come meet Bailey the winery Pug and drink among the stellar scenery of Masset Winery, including a tasting room set inside a 1905 barn. If you are looking for a romantic spot, this is it. The air is full of sweet scents on a summer day due to the surrounding fruit orchards. You can easily set up a picnic, taste some wine or chat with the owners about their wine.  They blend their wines to “fill in the blank spots” as they say, creating full flavor in every sip. Owen Roe: 309 Gangle Road, Wapato

Owen Roe Winery operates vineyards in both the Yakima Valley and Oregon’s Willamette Valley, and grapes grown at these vineyards go straight into Owen Roe’s wines. Drop in for a tasting if your group is smaller than eight, but larger groups should make reservations. They have special barrel tasting room appointments that can also be schedule via the Owen Roe website. These special events give guests a look into the history of the winery, the winemaking process and what makes Owen Roe wine unique.

Treveri Cellars: 71 Gangle Road, Wapato

Treveri Cellars is all about unique, sparkling wines. So unique that their wine has even been served at White House State Department receptions! The family-owned winery produces a wide selection of wines, including non-traditional Riesling and Mueller-Thurgau. The beautiful tasting room comes complete with an outdoor patio for nice days. You can drop in during tasting hours or schedule a premium tour and tasting through the Treveri Cellars website.
