October is here, and it’s time to break out the pumpkins and candy because let’s be honest, Halloween is a month-long celebration, not just one night only. If you’re looking for something fun to do this October to celebrate fall, a Yakima favorite is paying a visit to the Union Gap Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch.

The Union Gap Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch has been open in downtown Union Gap for as long as most people in Yakima can remember. This fun fall tradition is full of games, festivities, snacks and more — there is truly something for everyone.

If you happen to stop by, check out their many activities. This year, like many before, they will have a pumpkin patch, growing many pumpkins, perfect for carving your scariest or most adorable jack-o-lantern!

Family-friendly, most of the provided activities are perfect for all ages, from adults to toddlers. The venue includes three mazes, including one for little children made from hay bales, one smaller, easier maze, and one larger, more complex corn maze.

Union Gap Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch offers two variations of their more complex maze. During the day, it’s a regular corn maze. However, on certain days, you can find frightful fun with a spooky, haunted maze.

Expect that familiar whirring of the chainsaw halfway across the maze as you attempt to dodge dastardly villains and frightening ghouls as you make your way through the dark and mysterious haunted cornfield.

Be advised that the haunted corn maze is best suited for teens and adults. Use your judgment wisely— it can get quite spooky at points.

Don’t forget to check out their pumpkin chucker, where guests can shoot cannons with pumpkins as ammunition at targets set up yards away. And for smaller kids, not only is there a small maze, but there is a large hay bale stack for them to climb.

For parents and families looking for a fun venue to take photos with an autumn vibe, this patch is sure to please, with an abundant amount of photo opportunities.

The pumpkin patch also has fire pits available for parties ($20 for 2 hours, + $10 for each additional hour) where you can roast marshmallows and food over the fire or just to take the chill off after picking your perfect pumpkin. The concession stand offers smores kits for such occasions and a wide variety of sodas, chips, popcorn, candies, and more.

On Fridays, check out the Friday Night Frights, where they will show two movies — one more family-friendly and one that’s best suited for older teens and adults.
